The Immigrant Women's Health Centre (IWHC) is a community-based non-profit agency serving immigrant women, refugee women and women of colour. The Centre focuses on women who may find it hard to get good care for many reasons. They may not speak English. They may find that medical practitioners don't understand their culture, their religious beliefs or their health-care practices. They may experience racism. They may not have time between their paid jobs and caring for their families to get to the doctor. The IWHC welcomes diversity and respects women's strength. We believe that women have the right and ability to make informed choices about their health, including their sexual health. We provide services in several languages and with the cultural framework of the women we serve in mind. |
